Role Summary

We’re seeking a visionary yet grounded Director of Data Strategic Initiatives to lead a small, agile team focused on solving some of the bank’s most pressing data challenges—not just for compliance, but for real business value. This is a rare opportunity to shape how data is governed, leveraged, and valued across the enterprise. You’ll be at the forefront of building a smarter, more agile data culture—one that prioritizes outcomes over overhead and clarity over complexity.
Key Responsibilities
Drive Strategic Execution : Lead the design and delivery of data initiatives that improve operational efficiency, decision-making, and business outcomes. Communicate risks and achievements to executive leadership with impact
Champion Practical Governance : Implement data governance practices that are lean, effective, and aligned with business priorities—not just regulatory checkboxes.
Engage Senior Stakeholders : Facilitate strategic working sessions with executives to align data initiatives with enterprise goals and unlock measurable value.
Lead with Purpose : Inspire and guide a high-performing team of data professionals, fostering a culture of ownership, curiosity, and delivery excellence.
Solve Real Problems : Tackle ambiguous, high-stakes data issues with a pragmatic mindset—balancing innovation with execution and speed with sustainability.
Qualifications
Minimum 7+ years of experience in data strategy, transformation, or consulting roles, ideally with exposure to financial services
History of leading cross functional teams, particularly in an environment of influencing without direct authority or reporting lines
A track record of delivering data solutions that drive business efficiency, reduce risk, or unlock new opportunities.
Strong communication skills and executive presence—you can translate technical complexity into business clarity, even with limited context / background
A passion for practical transformation—you're not just a strategist, you're a doer.
Familiarity with banking data is helpful, but not required. What matters most is your ability to lead, influence, and deliver.
Self-starter, entrepreneurial, collaborative, and business savvy
The typical base pay range for this role is between $173K - $216K depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience and location. This role may also be eligible for certain discretionary performance-based bonus and / or incentive compensation.
