Location : Tokyo, Japan

About the job

The HR team is looking for a HR Director to manage the HR team and all HR-related matters across the Japan Business. Advise and support managers and employees on all HR-related areas including employment, performance management, career planning, leadership and development coaching, talent acquisition, total rewards / compensation and policy interpretation. Develop a SAS values-based culture in-country and region that enables the business to effectively deliver on their business objectives. Our team translates the business strategy across a complex multi-country geography into relevant people strategies and ensures flawless execution embracing a global mindset.

As a Director, Human Resources, you will :

  • Lead the HR team across the Japan business.
  • Be an active member of the APAC Leadership Team and partner with SAS business units’ leaders to develop action plans that achieve organizational objectives, and to deliver value-added services to management and employees that align with overall business objectives.
  • Lead organizational change in a complex business environment
  • Collaborate with the HR specialist teams in the development and implementation of employee programs and initiatives across SAS including strategic workforce planning and talent management.
  • Manage and resolve complex employee relations issues; provides guidance on, and assists in, performance improvement and conduct related issues and policy interpretation.
  • Work closely with management and employees to improve work relationships, build morale, increase productivity and retention.
  • Ensure that the organization's needs are met in accordance with governmental requirements.

Required qualifications :

  • Twelve years of professional human resources generalist experience handling a variety of responsibilities in several of the following areas : employment, employee relations, salary administration, benefits, and training. Experience must include working with a HR information / management system. Five years of experience in a HR leadership role
  • Proven track record of leading large-scale change initiatives
  • Excellent knowledge of employment, employee relations, compensation and benefits, salary administration, training with an understanding of the laws that govern these areas
  • Excellent consultative, influencing, conflict management / facilitation, written, oral, interpersonal communication, analytical, organizational, and diplomacy skills
  • Proven ability to coach and provide feedback across own team and related management teams.
  • Experience in navigating a multi-functional matrixed corporate environment
  • Demonstrated ability to develop proven HR programs that align with business strategies.
  • Strong business sense and ability to participate in and contribute to various business decisions.
  • Strong team player across functions and the ability to think "out of the box"

  • Preferred Qualifications :

  • Bachelor's degree, preferably in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field. PHR Certification preferred.
  • An equivalent combination of related education, training and experience may be considered in place of the above qualifications.
  • Familiarity with Workday, project management, and tech industry.
