The Role

Payroll Processing & Compliance :

  • Supervise end-to-end payroll processing for employees in Japan, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  • Maintain compliance with Japanese labor laws, social security contributions, and tax regulations.
  • Oversee the calculation of bonuses, allowances, deductions, and statutory payments.
  • Ensure payroll-related filings (e.g., social insurance, resident tax, and year-end adjustments) are completed on time.
  • Keep up-to-date with changes in payroll legislation and recommend necessary updates.

Team Management & Coordination :

  • Lead, mentor, and train a team of payroll specialists to enhance performance.
  • Allocate tasks efficiently to ensure smooth payroll operations.
  • Conduct regular team meetings to discuss workflow, challenges, and process improvements.
  • Provide coaching and development opportunities to team members.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration :

  • Work closely with client’s HR and external vendors to resolve payroll-related issues.
  • Process Improvement & System Management :

  • Identify areas for process optimization to improve efficiency and accuracy.
  • Address employee inquiries related to payroll, taxation, and benefits in a timely manner.
  • Involving in client implementation, onboarding procedure with new clients.
  • Assisting sales team to have external meeting with potential clients
  • Collaborate with IT and payroll system providers to enhance system capabilities.

  • Implement automation solutions where applicable to reduce manual interventions.
  • Ensure payroll data integrity and maintain accurate records.
  • Ideal Profile

    Technical Skills :

  • Strong understanding of Japanese labor laws, income tax, and social security regulations.
  • Proficiency in payroll software and Microsoft Excel.
  • Experience with year-end tax adjustments, social insurance reporting, and compliance filings.
  • Soft Skills :

  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
  • Effective communication skills in both Japanese and English.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and deadline-driven environment.
