Department Overview

Group Quality Department is directly lead by Group Executive Vice President, COO, and is working on improvement of Group Service Quality, to accelerate the growth of Rakuten Group businesses.

We are not only supporting decision making process of managements, but also executing measures for problem solving.

We are facing various problems under the circumstance of expanding Rakuten Ecosystem, and the rapid evolution of internet industry.

Position : Position Details

Evolution of 5G technology is driving the new innovation and trends in telecommunication industry. Governments, businesses and consumers are closely watching the progress around these innovations. Rakuten, one of the largest Internet service providers in Japan, has launched a mobile carrier business as a mobile communications provider and is making a large-scale investment and committed to distribute the whole industry through its innovative solutions.

Rakuten Mobile has successfully launched world's first end-to-end, fully virtualized, cloud native Mobile network by building a team of highly skilled, competent and global professionals, which will revolutionize the whole telecom industry.

While building such an innovative and technology oriented organization, its keep an eye on quality and processes. In this context, the Quality Management Division was established in the beginning of 2020. The Network Quality Management Department provides hands-on support to key executives in areas such as new product development and construction of mobile base stations to keep improving operations and building an organization to achieve a high level of quality.

Job Specification

We will assign you to one of the following departments, depending on your experience and preferences :

  • Establishing and continuously improving the process of development, construction, operation and maintenance of network products (in cooperation with technical departments and partner companies)
  • Analysis of critical issues, planning of improvement measures, and promotion of improvement
  • Preparation of reports and improvement proposals for management and general managers (including compilation)

Mandatory Qualifications :

  • The ability to work hands-on (not only strategic thinking, but also practical skills and the ability to fulfill practical responsibilities)
  • The ability to collect and analyze data to solve problems, and the ability to create proposals and other documents using Office (Power Point, Excel, etc.)
  • Excellent communication skills to collaborate with various teams and executives with different interests
  • Experience in planning, analysis, and improvement activities for various improvements (preferably in telecommunications, but experience in other fields is also acceptable)
  • Quality control of SW / HW / business Experience in the development of communication devices (mobile communication devices are even better)
  • Organizational reform Project management experience (PM for development and improvement is a plus)
  • Knowledge of telecommunications and experience working in the telecommunications industry Staff management skills
  • JLPT N3 or above (The ability to read and write in English and to discuss in both Japanese and English, regardless of experience as a foreign student or resident in Japan)
  • Manager experience
