The opportunity

Are you ready to make your mark as part of our Global Business Development & Marketing Team?

Our Business Development & Marketing team plays a critical role in enhancing the Firm’s reputation, expanding its client base and driving revenue growth. This team develops and implements strategic marketing plans to promote the Firm’s legal services, leveraging digital and traditional marketing channels to reach target audiences.

They conduct market research to identify industry trends and client needs, positioning the Firm competitively within the legal marketplace. The team also manages client relationships, orchestrates business development initiatives, and seeks opportunities for partnerships and networking. Through compelling content creation, event planning and public relations efforts, they ensure that the Firm maintains a strong market presence and continues to attract and retain clients.

As a Business Development & Marketing Coordinator will be a key member of our team, supporting marketing and business development initiatives related to the Tokyo legal practice.

Key responsibilities

  • Support the Tokyo BD and marketing team and Tokyo-based partners in developing and improving practice business plans and business development initiatives, especially related to energy transition.
  • Assist with matter research, lawyer biographies, and content preparation for pitches, proposals, capability statements, client presentations, and seminar materials.
  • Update and maintain the matters database in the global Matter Profiling System and InterAction.
  • Assist in creating and maintaining client marketing lists for electronic campaigns.
  • Support drafting submissions for legal directories (, Legal 500, Chambers & Partners) and award entries.
  • Review relevant legal / trade media and share information with BD team members.
  • Handle other ad hoc projects, including translations and collaborating with the Manila-based BD team.

The skills and attributes we are looking for

  • 1-2+ years of relevant experience, ideally within professional services or similar environment
  • Prior experience and knowledge of working within Asian markets is preferable and an advantage.
  • Native Japanese and fluent English required
  • Commercially minded and professional
  • Team player
  • Excellent communication skills (written and oral)
  • Planning and organization skills – must be able to work to tight deadlines, juggle multiple projects and deliver under pressure.
  • Pragmatic, self-motivated, flexible and able to work individually when required; also, an excellent team player – this is a high performing team with a strong team ethos.
  • Eager to learn, grow, acquire new skills and challenge yourself, and approach new challenges and opportunities with a positive attitude.
  • Good systems and database skills including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and CRM applications.
