Department Overview

We are a fashion focused e-commerce site, Rakuten Fashion.

Rakuten Ichiba is a mall-type business that provides a platform for stores to sell their products, on contrast to Rakuten Fashion, which is a direct sales-type business where Rakuten selects and buys brands and products on its own, and handles marketing, sales, shipping, and customer support.

This is the site that selects products from Japan's major select stores and brands, and focuses on popular and well-known brands such as nano・universe, URBAN RESEARCH, BEAMS, snidel, and GLOBAL WORK. The number of international brands has been increasing in the last few years.

As a business, we are trying to achieve very high mid-term goals and are continuing to make large investments in the following areas.

  • Promote the development of loyal customers through the development and enhancement of smartphone applications.
  • Promote the acquisition of new customers through continuous mass marketing such as TV commercials.
  • Strengthen the system platform to enhance service quality.

Position : Why We Hire

While consumer's lifestyle changes after COVID-19, apparel industry companies strengthen EC and put strong expectation on our Fashion EC business.

We have been continuing huge investment on Fashion EC for making big success on mid-term strategy.

In this context, the company has been considering business with many luxury and designer brands, and has now launched a new team dedicated to "Rakuten Fashion".

This role is looking for a candidate who can take charge of everything from strategic planning to project execution and promotion, aiming to achieve the mid-term growth strategy of the business with discretionary authority, while utilizing their own strengths.

Position Details

This position will be responsible for all phases of the project, including analysis of diverse issues in multiple areas, review, implementation, and verification, with the aim of expanding the distribution of the business.

Project Example

  • Fashion industry and competitor research
  • Mid-term strategy and business plan development
  • Identify growth driver, define and monitor KPIs
  • Data investigation
  • Demand analysis
  • Sales process improvement, develop / improve sales support tool (BI tool, performance report)
  • Identify SCM strategy, issue finding, resolving
  • Project management and milestone monitoring
  • New service / business development
  • Strategic alliance with major apparel companies
  • Mandatory Qualifications :

  • Strategic planning or business development experience in business operation company or business management / strategic consulting firm
  • Basic knowledge of e-commerce
  • Desired Qualifications :

  • Experience in the fashion industry
  • store operations and logistics are especially welcome)

  • Basic knowledge about the system
  • Experience conducting analysis and planning using Power Point and Excel
  • Additional information on English Qualification

    TOEIC Score exceeding 800 (or similar level of English ability) or a University Degree earned in an English-speaking country

  • TOEIC Score of 600 or higher is acceptable for fixed-term employees.
  • In this case, it is necessary to achieve a TOEIC Score exceeding 800 after joining Rakuten to be eligible to become a regular employee.

    If no evidence is available to prove the qualifications denoted above, taking an IP test, organized by Rakuten, during selection process is required.
