Role Overview :

The Talent Acquisition Specialist is responsible for delivering all facets of recruiting success throughout the organisation in Japan, with scope to work across region when required. Partnering with the local HR Manager, the Talent Acquisition Specialist will be responsible for the management of the end to end recruitment process and fulfilment of a portfolio of vacancies, employing traditional sourcing strategies and resources as well as developing new, innovative recruiting ideas. The Talent Acquisition Specialist role will play a critical role in ensuring we are increasing the quality of hire by providing the hiring managers with a selection of the best possible talent.

Based in Tokyo, Japan, you will be responsible for managing a portfolio of requisitions and ensuring successful fulfilment.

Use direct sourcing activities and TA best practices, ensuring cost effective TA solutions are implemented to support the business needs and ensure that requisitions are filled as efficiently as possible

Working with local HR, Talent Acquisition and Regional TA Director, ensure the day to day delivery of a smooth recruitment process carefully managing hiring managers and candidates expectations

Working closely with Hiring Managers to understand their needs and ensure a strong pipeline of candidates for current and future needs

Responsibilities : (Please specify % amount against each responsibility)

  • 25%) Planning

Partner with HR colleagues and hiring managers to develop creative recruitment strategies for open positions and in anticipation of future workforce planning needs.

Plan and execute successful recruitment events supporting targeted needs of the organization (career fairs, realistic job previews, etc.).

Identify and utilize creative sourcing methods to drive candidate flow (social media, job boards, professional associations, networking, universities, etc.).

Support the development of TA programs and identify recommendations to continuously improve the recruitment processes and tools to ensure optimal performance.

  • 60%) Execution
  • Source, screen, and manage the end-to-end recruitment process to integrate talent into the organisation, including managing sourcing of candidates and evaluation of candidate experience, skills, goals and competencies to determine best fit for role and organisation.

    Support multi-site recruitment environment by working with hiring managers and candidates remotely (email, phone, Skype) as well as in-person.

    Ensures all postings follow consistent practices.

    Reinforces recruitment policies regarding agency rate schedules and expectations.

    Assists in the development and implementation of creative recruiting programs to reduce agency dependency.

    Proactively and creatively source and recruit passive candidates to target strong industry talent.

    Monitors and revises the (Country) Recruitment Agency PSL to deliver quality candidates in a time and cost-effective manner.

    Develop and refine recruitment metrics and monthly dashboard for recruitment in respective market(s).

    Develop and embed employer branding in supported country / countries.

    Must ensure recruitment process complies with Smith & Nephew policies and federal and state guidelines and proper documentation and record keeping is maintained.

  • 10%) Reporting & Communication
  • 100% compliance in use of applicant tracking systems.

    Provide clear and concise reporting to business leaders and HR colleagues for tracking progress in sourcing candidates for current as well as anticipated open roles.

    Identify action plans where progress in filling roles is lacking and ensure business leaders have clear understanding of mitigation plans.

    Foster and maintain strong internal relationships with HR colleagues and business leaders.

    Integrate and develop recruitment processes to best meet the tactical and strategic needs of the business.

  • 5%) Special Programs
  • May be the staffing representative on designated cross-functional teams.

    May have independent responsibility for other programs.

    May work with designated person to plan and organize site employee activities and special events.

    Must be flexible and adaptable in order to work with various levels employees and leaders (up to and including executives). Must have proven ability to work in high pressure, fast paced environment

    Location : Japan.

    Education :

    BS / BA degree in Business or related field.

    Licenses / Certifications :

    Experience :

    Previous recruitment experience gained in either an internal corporate, RPO, or agency environment.

    Substantial knowledge of maximizing candidate attraction through the use of key candidate attraction channels, including but not restricted to :

    Networking

    Social / Professional media e.g. LinkedIn

    Job Boards / websites

    Experience of working with Applicant Tracking Systems.

    Experience of working as a part of a remote member of a geographically disperse global team.

    Strong MS Office software experience required. Skilled in database management and record keeping.

    Strong analytical capability with respect to compensation plans, internal equity, and problem solving.

    Excellent communication, interpersonal, and analytical skills required.

    Must be innovative and proactive in a fast-paced environment with a willingness to adapt.

    Demonstrates integrity in all business interactions and honors personal commitments.

    Competences :

    Ability to provide both verbal and written information clearly, succinctly, and persuasively, as well as ability to influence others.

    Capacity to understand recruitment issues and their impact on the context of bigger picture business strategies.

    Ability to reach agreements and consensus despite differing goals and priorities.

    Ability to use research methods effectively, including data collection, diagnostic, and analytical skills.

    May require occasional travel and overnight stays as required to support customer needs.
