Your mission, roles and responsibilities
Our Intellectual Property group organization is looking for a Patent Engineer (M / F) for the IP site of Saitama (50Km from Tokyo). He / she would be dedicated mainly to Faurecia Clarion Electronics R&D activities located in Japan. However, some inventions from other countries may have to be handled. The technologies addressed relate mainly to car infotainment systems, vehicle displays, Human Machine Interface, sound systems, as well to automatic parking functions, electronic rearview mirrors and surround view systems. The whole IP group comprises about 45 people based in France, Germany, India, Japan, China and United-States including Patent Attorneys qualified before Patent Offices. The IP site of Saitama comprises a senior patent engineer (EQE qualified), a patent engineer and two paralegals.
As a Patent Engineer she / he must have knowledge in Patent Laws combined with an engineer degree. She / he has to help inventors to define their inventions, to assess the patentability, to prepare patent first filing and extension decisions with the inputs from the experts and marketing specialists through the world. The Patent Engineer has also to establish the cooperation with external patent attorneys and to check the quality of their work. She / he will be involved in patent infringement analysis (Patent Clearance and Freedom To Operate).
The main missions of the role are as follows :
- Assist our inventors to identify and complete Invention Disclosure Forms (IDF);
- Assess the patentability of the submitted inventions with the support of our Patent Analysts;
- Ensure the cooperation with external Patent Attorneys and the quality of our patent from the filing to the grant;
- Prepare the patent filing / extension decisions for Patent Committees;
- Analyze competitors’ patents in order to provide Patent Clearance and Freedom To Operate opinions.
Your profile and competencies to succeed
The ideal candidate will have / be :
An Engineer Degree or a Master’s Degree in Mechanics and / or Electronics;Education and training about patents, like training by Industrial Property Information and Training center or by the Japan IP Association or any IP Professional Master Course;Some professional experience as patent engineer confirming the interest and capabilities in patent matters;knowledge in patent laws and procedures, notably before Japan, US, European and / or Chinese patent offices;Skills in patent searching would be an advantage;Professional English is mandatory;Team player able to work in a global and multicultural environment.What we can do for you
