Public Policy Supervisory Department is a department that engages in lobbying activities for the creation of new industries and economic revitalization through deregulation by lobbying public policy through communication with the legislative and executive branches. In addition to policies directly related to the Rakuten Group's business, we also aim to realize policies that contribute to the development of the economy through the operation of economic organizations.

Position Details

In this role, responsibilities include (but not limited to) :

  • Plan, develop and implement public policy office's global activities
  • Research and analyze global policy trends
  • Build and maintain relationships with overseas government officials and relevant industry groups, etc
  • Build relationships with embassies in Tokyo, representatives of foreign government agencies, etc
  • Plan and manage events related to public policy offices' activities

Mandatory Qualifications :

  • Requirements : Japanese (Native level)
  • Proven work experience in similar roles
  • Experience in working with global entities or working in English (written and verbal)
  • Excellent reading and writing skills to understand / produce complex regulatory or policy documents both in Japanese and English
  • The ideal candidate will have

  • Ability to think logically and communicate smoothly and accurately with related parties
  • A strong interest in social, economic, and technological trends, as well as domestic and international policy trends surrounding the Internet industry, and an understanding of the Rakuten Group's management policies and strategies
  • A sense of speed and responsibility, and the ability to set goals and work independently
  • Willing to do necessary administrative work
  • Desired Qualifications :

  • Experience in government affairs in the Internet industry
  • Expertise in policy planning and regulatory affairs of foreign government or related organization
  • Experience in planning and executing international events
  • Experience in regulatory planning at governmental organizations
  • Experience as a policy secretary for a member of the Diet
  • Experience in policy-related job at private companies or economic associations, etc.
