Background to recruitment :

At Chugai Pharmaceutical, as a modality following antibodies and small molecules, we are developing and strengthening our proprietary mid-size molecule drug discovery platform. Mid-size molecules are non-natural cyclic peptides that can be orally absorbed and permeate cell membranes. A clinical trial of our first mid-size molecule drug has begun, and there is a need for further pipeline expansion and technology development to gain a greater competitive advantage.

As a leading company in the development of mid-size molecule drugs, we are pursuing cutting-edge technology and establishing a platform technology capable of creating such drugs for all targets. Our aim is to continuously create medicines that can change the lives of patients. Therefore, we are seeking candidates who can be the next generation leaders in this field.

Description of work :

The candidate will lead the development of innovative drug discovery technologies for mid-size molecules, integrating multidisciplinary knowledge including biotechnology, chemistry, and digital technology.

In addition, the candidate will conduct drug discovery using the aforementioned technology, and propose and lead drug discovery projects for targets and diseases that have been difficult to address with conventional methods. 応募資格／Qualifications 求める経験

Desired experience :

Two or more of the following : genetic experiments, protein experiments, cell experiments, biochemical experiments.

Preferably, at least one of the following :

Development or improvement of library screening methods such as phage display, mRNA display, cell display, SELEX, droplet technology, DNA encoded library, OBOC, fragment based screening, or similar.

Development or improvement of ultra-sensitive assays such as nanopore sequencing, single molecule ELISA.

Development or improvement of technologies that add new functions to drug modalities, such as protein degraders, RNA binding small molecules, etc.

Additionally, development or improvement of world-leading proprietary technologies in interdisciplinary fields such as molecular biology, chemical biology, or similar areas.

A leading role in the proposing and promoting research projects.

Presentation of one's own research in academic journals and at conferences.

Preferably, coding skills.

Those who continually keep up with the world's most advanced research, not limited to their specialty

Those who possess the ability to clearly communicate their area of expertise to non-experts

Those who can work collaboratively while maintaining smooth communication within the team

Those with advanced expertise in one or more of the following areas : synthetic biology, evolutionary molecular engineering, chemical biology, bioactive peptides, or a related interdisciplinary field

Those who possess English proficiency sufficient to read English literature and prepare English presentations

Desired Qualifications :

Those who have a Master's degree in engineering, science, medicine, or pharmacy. Preference will be given to those with a doctoral degree.
