Job Description :
As a Mainframe Engineer, you will be instrumental in our strategic initiative to modernize and enhance our mainframe environment. This role involves not only maintaining our existing systems but also driving the migration from legacy tools and processes to more modern, efficient solutions. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure a smooth transition and ongoing system reliability.
Key Responsibilities :
System Modernization & Optimization :
Lead the migration from Endevor to a Git-based DevOps solution. Transition monitoring systems to Omegamon for improved performance insights. Oversee the move from CA1 to RMM for storage and tape management. Migrate scheduling systems from Control-M or CA7 to more advanced solutions.
Application Support & Development :
Support the migration from legacy DB2 tools to IBM’s DB2 suite. Transition from Compuware tools (File-Aid, Abend-aid, Xpediter, Strobe) to IBM PDTools. Facilitate the move from Datacom / IDMS / Adabas to DB2 z / OS. Convert applications from Easytrieve to COBOL for improved maintainability.
Automation & Session Management :
Lead automation initiatives, moving from Solve / Ops, OPS / MVS, or AutoOperator to IBM System Automation. Manage the transition from CA TPX to IBM CL / Supersession for session management.
Security & Performance Monitoring :
Implement and manage security protocols, ensuring a seamless transition during migrations. Monitor and tune performance metrics, addressing issues promptly and optimizing for efficiency.
Collaboration & Documentation :
Work closely with IT teams to ensure integrated and efficient operations across all systems. Document new processes, configurations, and troubleshooting procedures for future reference.
