Position Summary

We are seeking a highly capable Senior Manager, Human Resources , who will serve as HR Business Partner for our Japan business and directly manage the HRBP / HR Generalist, Talent Acquisition, and Talent Development teams.

This individual will act as a strategic partner to senior management in Japan, lead people initiatives across multiple domains, and ensure strong execution of HR operations in compliance with Japanese labor law. The role requires the ability to balance strategic transformation (“攻めのHR”) with operational credibility (“守りのHR”) , while serving as a trusted advisor and future successor to the Head of HR.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic HR Leadership

・Partner with senior management to design and execute HR strategies aligned with business goals.

・Lead organizational development, workforce planning, talent management, and leadership pipeline initiatives.

・Serve as a trusted advisor to executives, providing objective counsel and ensuring people strategies support long-term growth.

・Champion cultural and engagement initiatives that strengthen organizational identity and performance.

People Management & Team Leadership

・Manage and develop the following HR functions :

  • HRBP / HR Generalists : Ensure strategic HR support alignment with HR generalists and other HRBP.
  • Talent Acquisition (TA) : Oversee recruitment strategy and execution to attract top talent in Japan and globally.
  • Talent Development : Lead learning, career development, and leadership programs that build organizational capability.

・ Set goals, mentor team members, and foster a collaborative, high-performing HR organization.

HRBP for Japan Business

・ Act as the primary HRBP for Japan (~200+ employees), advising on organizational design, succession planning, and leadership support.

・Provide guidance on employee relations, performance management, and career development.

・Partner with managers and employees to drive organizational effectiveness and employee engagement.

HR Operations & Compliance

・ Oversee HR administration including employment contracts, payroll coordination, benefits, and leave management.

・Ensure full compliance with Japanese labor laws and employment regulations.

・Manage complex employee relations cases, investigations, and disciplinary processes.

・Continuously improve HR policies, systems, and processes for efficiency and transparency.

Leadership & Future Development

・ Represent HR at the senior management table, facilitating balanced decision-making and alignment across stakeholders.

・Mentor and develop HR professionals across multiple domains, elevating HR’s role as a trusted business partner.

・Participate in global HR initiatives, preparing for succession into the Head of HR role.

Requirements

Qualifications

・Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Law, or related field.

・Minimum 10 years of HR experience, with at least 5 years in an HRBP or strategic HR leadership role.

・Proven management experience leading HRBP, Talent Acquisition, or Talent Development teams.

・Strong expertise in Japanese labor law and HR operations (労務実務経験必須).

・Demonstrated ability to engage, influence, and constructively challenge senior management.

・Language : Native-level Japanese; Business-level English.

Preferred Qualifications

・ Experience in a multinational, SaaS, or high-growth environment.

・Cross-border HR project leadership.

・Professional HR certification (e.g., SHRM, CIPD) or 社会保険労務士資格.
