Look no further! Liferay Japan is looking for a Sales Engineer Intern to learn the skills, knowledge, and experiences needed to have a long term successful career. We’re a distributed and collaborative sales team, and believe there are no boundaries between customer service and technical sales, engineering and storytelling, closing and consulting. Sales Engineers are both highly technical and laser-focused on business solutions. We work in teams with account executives, customer experience managers, inside sales, and marketing. The Sales Engineer is the technical expert and resource for : solution architecture, development best practices, identity management, integration points, UI / UX, system administration, mobile strategy, content management, web analytics, DevOps best practices, high availability & clustering, cloud infrastructure, and all features of Liferay DXP and its suite of products. Sales Engineers provide technical justification and business consultation, and are trusted advisors to technology directors, CTOs, and software architects as they go through the buyer journey.Key Objectives

  • Learn the business-technical support for the Account Executives and Channel Account Managers during calls, meetings, and demos (online or on-site)
  • Work with a Sales Engineer to gain knowledge about Liferay products, providing system engineering and system architecture best practices and techniques, both internally and outbound
  • Help create and conduct demonstrations to both a business and technical audiences - including PoCs (Proof of Concepts)
  • Provide any assistance to help potential clients or business partners to overcome technical questions, barriers, and architectural hurdles
  • Support with answers to RFP / RFI documents submitted by potential clients, with particular attention to technical and advanced product questions, under tight deadlines on a regular basis
  • Help to create and maintain solution-based demo environments and bundles using existing collateral and new materials that you create
  • Help update and maintain Liferay Japan website

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Systems Engineering preferred or equivalent experience
  • Hard-working, self-motivated, and hungry to learn
  • A team player. Work with other members of Liferay’s global sales organization on multi-national sales opportunities
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Fluent in Japanese (N1) and conversational to business level English
  • Available to work onsite in Tokyo
  • Able to work up to 20 hours per week (shift of 2-3 days per week)
  • Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in technical pre-sales in internet web site development, portal, web content management, and / or social collaboration industry in general
  • Knowledge about Portals, Databases, Linux, Servlet Containers / Application Servers. Knowledge of Liferay Portal is a plus.
  • Knowledge about Java frameworks such as Spring and Hibernate
  • Knowledge about front-end technologies such as CSS, HTML5, jQuery and Angular
  • Knowledge about Public Cloud offerings such as AWS and Azure
  • Knowledge about Web development - desirable to have proficient in Java and Java EE (or at least have had this experience, to understand the underlying technology of Liferay Portal)
  • Good presentation skills to executives & individual contributors
