Job Description

The Security Technology Manager provides a key role as a member of the AIG Global Security – Operations Department.  The Technology Manager provides direct support to the Regional Security Manager (RSM), Japan, delivering best-in-class physical security support services throughout the complex framework of AIG Companies and Corporate Functions (i.e., the department’s clients).

Principal Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the end-to-end installation, testing, and acceptance of installed physical security components (e.g., access control systems, security video and storage devices, intrusion / intruder alarms, panic / duress systems, video intercoms, and visitor management systems, etc.) for new office spaces, office relocations / reductions, restacks, individual component installations, and policy compliance remediation work.
  • Ensure that security designs, equipment, and installation comply with Global Security Standards and that all associated AIG Company Policies and regional requirements are taken into consideration.
  • Evaluate security vendor project proposals; most importantly, ensure cost estimates are appropriate (i.e., value for money) and that the plan / proposal complies with Global Security Standards.
  • Develop, document, and commit to a project timeline and ensure all security actions / equipment are delivered as agreed.
  • Ensure that project data is accurate, complete, current, and stored in the department’s central repository.
  • Conduct Quarterly Business Reviews (QBR) with key project vendors.
  • Assist with other departmental high priority projects / activities as needed, especially during major events which require departmental staff to support efforts that may be a departure from regular work functions.
  • As needed, assist with conducting Physical Security Audits (PSAs) at offices throughout Japan. Create PSA reports and track all compliance findings through to remediation.

Education / Qualifications / Skills

  • Must possess subject-matter expertise and troubleshooting capabilities for AIG’s enterprise security technology systems, including physical access control, security video, and intrusion systems.
  • Advanced proficiency in Salesforce, Genetec, and other internally used applications.
  • Genetec certification is preferred but not mandatory.
  • Proficiency in Auto CAD is preferred but not mandatory.
  • 4-year college degree is preferred but not mandatory.
  • 5 years professional experience in a multinational company in a similar capacity as described in the Principal Responsibilities section.
  • Strong project management skills with the proven ability to define a project’s scope and objectives and provide oversight to ensure its completion in a timely fashion and within budget.
  • Top tier administrative support capacity with excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Capable of effectively managing multiple deliverables and prioritizing responsibilities without much oversight – grasps “what’s important.”
  • Must possess mature written and verbal English and Japanese communication skills and be able to effectively communicate with high level contacts of the organization.
  • Must have excellent telephone etiquette.
  • The ability to maintain confidentiality on sensitive matters is required.
  • Must have excellent follow-through, strong business acumen, and demonstrate a high level of urgency and adaptability.
  • Must be an organized self-starter with the ability to handle and coordinate multiple tasks simultaneously with minimum error.
  • Must exercise independent judgement and be comfortable in an environment requiring both sustained initiative and competing priorities.
  • Strong analytical, testing, and problem-solving skills.
  • Advanced proficiency in MS Office – primarily Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Flexible – comfortable with working longer hours / early start times / late evenings as needed to meet target deadlines.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively and work closely with cross-functional teams and management to accomplish objectives.
  • Well organized, highly detailed, possesses quantitative skills and a strong focus on accuracy.
  • Willing to travel as needed.
  • Position requires mostly in-office work with occasional remote work depending on deliverables and other work requirements.
