Job Summary

Rosewood Miyakojima is seeking an experienced Assistant Director of Engineering to join our team. This leadership role ensures the maintenance and operational efficiency of all hotel facilities while upholding the highest standards of guest service. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in building maintenance, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems, as well as experience managing engineering teams in Japan. This is a unique opportunity to be part of Rosewood Miyakojima’s world-class team, delivering exceptional service in one of Japan’s most stunning island destinations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Oversee daily engineering operations, preventive maintenance, and repair work across the hotel.

Supervise and train engineering staff to maintain the highest safety and operational standards.

Assist the Director of Engineering and act as the leader in their absence.

Ensure compliance with Japanese building codes, fire safety regulations, and sustainability initiatives.

Respond to guest concerns and maintenance requests promptly to ensure guest satisfaction.

Work collaboratively with other hotel departments to support operational needs.

Required Skills – General skills :

Fluent in Japanese and English (spoken and written). Preference is for candidates that have the ability to speak, read and write both Japanese and English.

Previous experience in engineering management in Japan is required.

10+ years of engineering management experience and a degree in an engineering-related field (required for visa qualification).

Strong technical knowledge of building maintenance, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems.

Ability to lead a team, prioritize tasks, and work under pressure in a fast-paced luxury hospitality environment.
