We are looking for a Property Underwriter, based in Tokyo, Japan.

Your Team

Our team is committed to delivering exceptional Property Underwriting services in Japan, ensuring comprehensive risk assessment and tailored solutions for our clients. We leverage our deep understanding of the local market and regulatory environment to provide accurate and timely insights. Collaborating closely with our clients, we strive to support their business objectives while maintaining the highest standards of integrity and professionalism.

The Impact You Will Have

You will report to the Head of Property, Hong Kong, Greater China & Japan and the Senior Underwriter, General Manager, Property Department, Japan.

Some of your specific responsibilities could include :

Underwrite Profitable B usiness

• Underwrite new and renewal accounts to meet top and bottom line targets
• Negotiate participation, pricing and terms and conditions with brokers
• Proactively manage capacity
• U nderwrite and evaluate Natural Catastrophe Accumulation, ensuring an understanding of catastrophe modelling and interpretation of scenarios (for relevant LoBs )

What You’ll Bring to the Role

Risk Assessment and Management : Ability to assess risk inherent exposures and natural hazards relevant to LoB

Pricing and Market M a nagement : Analyze current performance against benchmarks applying how the market operates and functions, the business needs and customer needs

Contract Drafting and Interpretation : Design, develop and implement consistent, robust wordings

Policy Management : Robust understanding of policy administration life cycle, information collection, policy issuance, premium bookings, credit control, cancellation.

Demonstrable, established relationships with brokers at peer group level

Good understanding of regional / local LoB insurance markets and competitor landscape

Understanding of legal and regulatory framework

Experience working in complex, global matrix organization

The ability to utilize AI tools to support day-to-day tasks, improve efficiency, and contribute to data-driven decision-making is valuable.

Proficianecy in Japanese : Business level
