We are looking for a Financial L i nes Underwriter , based in T o kyo, Japan.

Our team is committed to delivering exceptional Financial Lines U nderwriting services in Japan, ensuring comprehensive risk assessment and tailored solutions for our clients. We leverage our deep understanding of the local market and regulatory environment to provide accurate and timely insights. Collaborating closely with our clients, we strive to support their business objectives while maintaining the highest standards of integrity and professionalism.

The Impact You Will Have

Y o u will report to the Regional H e ad of Financial Lines & Cyber, Asia and Director, Division Manager, Underwriting, Japan, General Manager, Financial Lines Department .

Some of your specific responsibilities could include :

Underwrit ing

Underwrite new and renewal accounts to meet top and bottom line targets within established authority limits, including acquiring new business and retaining existing business through client and broker negotiations as needed.

• Prepare and analyze relevant underwriting information, such as client and market research and claims data .
• Support risk pricing using global tools as appropriate , ensuring alignment with the u nderwriting s trategy.

Underwrit ing Approach and Compliance

Ensure underwriting compliance with the LoB governance framework, including adherence to u nderwriting a uthorities, u nderwriting g uidelines, r ules, and p rinciples.

Establish and maintain a policy file for each managed risk and transaction, whether electronic or paper-based .

Accounts Reconciliations

Oversee the timely and accurate booking of policy premiums, along with managing credit control and collection processes.

Market and Relationship Management

Represent Allianz Commercial positively in the market and develop strong relationships with key brokers, clients, and stakeholders, including risk managers.

What You’ll Bring to the Role

Demonstrate expertise in underwriting with a focus on risk assessment and management.

Apply evaluation and measurement skills within sales and distribution contexts.

Manage policy and handle underwriting processes efficiently.

Exhibit strong communication and presentation skills.

Communicate effectively in Japanese .

Possess proficiency in English language communication.

Utilize influencing skills to persuade and motivate others to take action .

Employ analytical skills to assess and interpret complex data.

Proficiency in AI skills :

The ability to utilize AI tools to support day-to-day tasks, improve efficiency, and contribute to data-driven decision-making is valuable.
