Position Summary

The Director of RWE-HO Japan leads the local evidence strategy of a dedicated therapeutic area (TA) to demonstrate the value of GSK’s innovative medicines / vaccines. This role ensures local real-world clinical, economic and humanistic evidence supports regulatory, reimbursement, and patient access objectives, while guiding a high-performing team aligned with GSK’s global evidence standards and Japan’s payer environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Partner with Medical team for robust gap assessment to better understand local unmet needs.
- Participate in Global DGTs and co-create global DGPs representing interests of Japan market needs.
- With solid understanding of the Japan health care system and policy landscape, develop and implement forward-looking Japan-specific RWE and HEOR strategies across GSK’s priority therapeutic areas (e.g., specialty / oncology / vaccines / respiratory) for addressing evidential gaps.
- Identify and address capability gaps to prepare teams for future competitive advantage.
- Ensure evidence supports product value propositions across the lifecycle, including but not limited to optimal listing, re-pricing, HTA engagement, post launch re-examination and outcomes demonstration aligned with GSK's patient and access goals.
- Ensure that team members engage closely with Japan and global cross-functional stakeholders to plan, design and execute data generation plans (DGPs) for priority assets.
- Lead / drive prioritised local RWE and Health Outcomes studies, as well as local adaptation of global economic models and support CEE / HTA submission planning and execution.
- Oversee publications and presentations of study findings at national and international forums.
- Partner with Market Access, Government Affairs, Medical, Regulatory, and Commercial teams to ensure evidence is aligned with brand strategy and payer needs.
- Represent Japan in global data generation working groups to ensure country insights inform development-stage and post-launch evidence plans.
- Cultivate partnerships with academic institutions, KOLs, and data providers in Japan.
- Contribute to scientific, payer and HTA engagement by translating evidence into clear, locally relevant value messages.
- Manage, mentor, and develop a team of RWE / HEOR professionals.
- Build functional excellence and capability in evidence generation, study design, value communication, and policy awareness.
- Foster a culture of scientific integrity, innovation, and collaboration.
Qualifications
Advanced degree in science, epidemiology, health economics, public health, biostatistics, or related discipline.8+ years of experience in RWE, HEOR, or Market Access within Japan’s pharmaceutical, biotech, or consulting environment.Knowledgeable of Japan’s HTA system, Chuikyo processes, and healthcare policy landscape.Proven experience designing and delivering impactful RWE / HEOR projects in Japan (regional / global experience a plus).Track record of team leadership, coaching, and talent development.Business-level Japanese and English proficiency.Strategic mindset with strong communication and collaboration skills.Alignment with GSK values : patient focus, integrity, transparency, and respect.Why GSK?
