Business Overview

Among the distribution markets for general consumers, the food distribution market is a field where EC and digitalization are particularly slow. Rakuten will promote the Internet Super Business to promote the EC and digitalization of food distribution, and empower society through food distribution reform.

Department Overview

Rakuten Mart is a warehouse-shipping type of online supermarket service operated by Rakuten as a first party. Taking advantage of its ability to serve large market areas from a small number of locations, it will promote the EC-ization of food distribution with a service deployment that combines the strengths of wide-area chain stores and specialty retailers.

Rakuten Mart, Inc. (Formerly : Rakuten Seiyu NetSuper, Inc.) :

Rakuten Mart became a 100% subsidiary of Rakuten in December 2023 and rebranded as "Rakuten Mart" in August 2024, marking a new beginning.

Leveraging Rakuten's unique strengths, we will strengthen our collaboration with the "Rakuten Ecosystem" to offer an even wider selection of products and provide more convenient and higher quality services.

Service Area and Delivery Method

We cover 12 million households in the Tokyo metropolitan area and the Kansai area, shipping from three automated warehouses. We have built an efficient H&S (Hub & Spoke) type delivery network that enables same-day delivery and temperature control of products. Furthermore, our state-of-the-art automated warehouses reduce walking time during product searches and shorten product verification work, enabling highly efficient operations.

Future Potential

The grocery market has a large market size but a low EC penetration rate, so it has great growth potential. Rakuten is one of the top players in the steadily expanding online supermarket market. It is also a strong touchpoint with customers and can contribute to the Rakuten Ecosystem.

The Business Management Division is responsible for formulating business strategies, managing KPIs, business development, and project management to promote the Rakuten Mart business, with the aim of achieving its sustainable growth.

Position : Position Details

Business KPI management

  • Setting, monitoring, and analyzing KPIs (Key Performance Indicators) for each business unit
  • Creating regular business performance reports and presenting them to senior management
  • Identifying challenges and implementing improvement proposals to achieve KPI targets
  • Improving the efficiency of business operations and supporting decision-making through data analysis

New business development

  • Identifying new business opportunities through market research and competitive analysis
  • Planning and developing new businesses, building business models, and formulating business plans
  • Promoting projects through collaboration with internal and external stakeholders
  • Conducting and evaluating Proof of Concept (PoC) for new businesses
  • Developing and executing strategies to monetize new businesses
  • Business strategy support

  • Supporting the formulation of medium- to long-term business strategies
  • Supporting strategy execution through collaboration with senior management and business units
  • Analyzing and proposing optimizations for the business portfolio
  • Project management

  • Managing the progress of multiple projects, coordinating resources, and managing risks
  • Managing the quality of project deliverables and ensuring on-time delivery
  • Other tasks

  • Monitoring industry trends and technological developments
  • Promoting AI adoption and operational efficiency improvements within the company
  • Collaborating with external partners as needed
  • Mandatory Qualifications :

  • Experience in data analysis and KPI management
  • Experience in new business development or business planning
  • Logical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Project management skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders both inside and outside the company
  • Desired Qualifications :
