About the EC Consulting Department

Since its founding in 1997, "Rakuten Ichiba" has grown to become one of the largest e-commerce sites in Japan. As of May 2024, it hosts over 57,000 stores and is widely used by many customers.

The EC Consulting Department not only handles new store opening sales for "Rakuten Ichiba," but also provides consulting on sales strategies and plans marketing strategies for various products for already established businesses.

About the Store Incubation Division

The Store Incubation Division is responsible for businesses that have already opened stores on Rakuten Ichiba, particularly those in the early stages of growth. Our team focuses on supporting these businesses as they grow.

Rakuten Ichiba aims to support the sales growth of all stores, not just top customers. We believe that our role in accompanying and assisting stores in increasing their sales can also encourage many others who are looking to embark on new business ventures.

To enhance the level of support for all stores, we are expanding our team.

Position Details

You will be responsible for maximizing the appeal of store products and consulting on sales methods on Rakuten Ichiba. Working closely with store owners, you will help them develop future visions, sales targets, and sales plans. The greatest joy of this job is sharing the success and happiness with store owners when their sales increase.

For sales planning, you will extract issues and conduct competitive analysis using Rakuten's vast amount of data to formulate your proposals. For example, rather than relying solely on price competition, you will learn how to propose Rakuten Ichiba-specific sales know-how, such as campaign planning, customer acquisition strategies including advertising, and page creation methods. This will be taught through on-the-job training (OJT) after you join the company.

In addition to logical proposal skills as a consultant, strong sales skills and resilience are highly sought after to empower approximately 150 assigned stores.

Work Environment

The Store Incubation Division is an organization of approximately 200 people, including both full-time employees and contract employees. Among the full-time employees, the composition is roughly half new graduates and half mid-career hires.

Mid-career employees come from a wide range of industries. Just to name a few examples, their backgrounds include apparel brands, finance, beverage manufacturers, and English conversation schools.

Mandatory Qualifications :

Candidates should have one of the following experiences :

• Sales experience (2 years or more)
• Sales management experience in the distribution or retail industry (2 years or more)

Desired Qualifications :

Experience in proposal-based, solution-based, or consulting-based sales (experience in the internet industry is not required)

There is a possibility of domestic business trips and transfers.

Including the Tokyo headquarters, there is a possibility of assignment to any of our current 12 locations. While we will consider your preferences when determining your initial assignment, please note that there is a possibility of transfers nationwide in the future. (Hokkaido, Miyagi, Saitama, Tokyo, Ishikawa, Aichi, Osaka, Hyogo, Hiroshima, Ehime, Fukuoka, Kagoshima)

TOEIC Score exceeding 800 (or similar level of English ability or a University Degree earned in an English-speaking country)

Proof of eligibility is required by the timing of the offer letter.
