Impact of this role
We are currently looking for a Housekeeping Manager to join our leadership team at Rosewood Miyakojima. Our Housekeeping Manager is entrusted to assist the Director of Housekeeping to organise and maintain a high degree of excellence / maintenance in guest rooms, suites, laundry, service rooms and public areas of the hotel that are equal to the high level of guest and management expectations, in order to enhance its image of one of the finest luxury hotels.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure that all company brand standards have been implemented. Work closely with other associates in a supportive and flexible manner, focusing on the overall success of the hotel and the satisfaction of hotel guests.
- Contribute to the collective commitment of a unique guest experience - to create a sense of place. Support new members of the Housekeeping department.
- Review guest requests prior to arrival and ensure that they are properly set up on a timely manner. Handle guests concerns and comments and find a proper resolution to ensure guest satisfaction.
- Report to work on time, ensuring appearance and presentation meet the required standard. Assist with the supervision of all Housekeeping associates and contractors within the department.
- Oversee the day-to-day Housekeeping operations by being in the guestrooms, public areas and heart of house. Carrying out spot checks and following-up were necessary.
- Assist the Director of Housekeeping in the overall running of the Housekeeping department and to deputize for the Director of Housekeeping in her / his absence.
- Receive and take ownership of any guest complaints. Perform any appropriate investigation and follow-up with guests and associates, record, update and recover the EGG via Knowcross.
- Control and compile associate rosters ensuring correct levels of manpower according to the occupancy and other needs.
- Monitor the daily operations in terms of arrivals, departures, occupied, back-to-back rooms and ensure that all SAGs arrivals and in-house are highlighted.
- Conduct daily meetings with the team, focusing on the daily information, SAGs’ arrival and in-house, areas for improvement and celebrations.
- Inspect daily SAGs’ rooms, conduct inspection of arrival and occupied rooms / suites daily. Conduct performance evaluations with all assigned associates using GoAudits and proceed with immediate feedback and retraining of the associates.
- Plan and monitor associate holidays, leaves, public holidays, requests etc.
- Ensure all new Housekeeping associates receive an onboarding schedule and thorough training and support when joining the department.
- Attend all departmental meetings. Attend training sessions both internal and external.
- Assign special duties such as SAGs rooms, deep cleaning and special projects to associates. Identify the training requirements, organize and follow through on-the-job training in close liaison with the Director of Housekeeping and Supervisors.
- Assist in carrying out inventories as directed by the Director of Housekeeping in regard to linen, amenities, Personal Bar product, etc. and check reports. Order cleaning and guest supplies and monitor expenses in accordance with budget.
- Ensure that pantries are always tidied, clean and compliant with the Hygiene and Health & Safety requirements. Ensure that all guestrooms are cleaned and maintained, proceeding with the deep cleaning of the areas on a regular basis by implementing and following up on a deep cleaning program for guestrooms.

- Ensure all chinaware, silverware and glassware are in an excellent condition and are maintained at all times following correct cleaning standards.
- Monitor and organize the Personal Bar Attendants, ensuring a strict control over the products’ stock and replenishment of the rooms, focusing on the strict and efficient control of the expiring dates to prevent losses.
- Complete any special assignments directed by the Director of Housekeeping promptly.
- Ensure that the Hotels grievance, disciplinary and guarantee of fair treatment procedures are followed.
- Lead and assist with appraising performance of associates within the Housekeeping department according to Director of Housekeeping’s directions.
- Conduct disciplinary actions where needed and follow-up with T&C department.
- Ensure proper care of furniture, fixtures and equipment within the Hotel.
- Report all malfunctions on assigned areas to Engineering department.
- Follow up any reports taking further action if required. Ensure all associates equipment is well maintained and in proper working order. Report immediately any matters concerning the security of guest rooms to the Security department.
- Ensure safety and return of all key cards and devices. Report any loss of key card and device immediately to the Housekeeping office.
- Ensure lost and found items are turned directly into Housekeeping office and the lost property procedure followed. Report any defects in the building, plant or equipment according to hotel procedure and follow-up accordingly.
