Overview
You will report to the Group Manager of Devices Data & Analytics in IDC Japan, or a person designated by the aforementioned. You will be required to produce documents using IDC methodology and taxonomy, focused on, but not limited to, the following areas :
Direct contributions as an analyst via primary research, interviews, and analysis within the global devices team. You will be required to produce data using IDC methodology and taxonomy, focused on, but not limited to, the following areas :
- Market Share and Competitive Analysis - Growth Trends and Forecasts
- User Demands and Preferences - Technology Trends and Predictions
Responsibilities
Analysis and Research :
Primary research in the form of industry interviews and relationship building, supplemented by secondary desk research, to drive data creation, competitive analysis, and forecastsCoordination and collaboration with product leaders and specialists within IDC around the worldAnalysis and presentation of findings to IDC clients. Answer client inquires and track client interactions in the IDC databaseAssist and co-produce press releases, and address media queriesConsulting Projects :
Contributing to local, sub-regional, and regional projectsKeeping current with industry trends and new research, locally and globallyBusiness Development
Support of IDC business development efforts locally and in the regionPresent to customers as well as in industry conferences / eventsQualifications
Qualifications :
4-5 years experience in a market research firm or at an IT vendor / channel partner in sales, product marketing, business development, program marketing, or market intelligence. Candidates in the consulting industry or technology journalism will also be considered.The candidate should have a minimum college / university degree – BA / BSc equivalent but those with MBA will be preferable.Strong quantitative analysis skills and comfort with numbers and spreadsheets. Does not need to have a background in statistical analysis, but needs to be detail-oriented and diligent with a passion for excellenceMust be fluent in Japanese and also have confident English skills both written and verbal for both internal and external business communicationsStrong interpersonal skills with experience of communicating in a multi-cultural environment being a key advantageExcellent time management skills to multi-task and adapt to rapidly changing workloadsHighly motivated individual able to work both independently and in a teamA personal interest and curiosity in the devices industry is a bonus
