Role Summary
The Senior Business Development Associate will play a key role in identifying and developing renewable energy opportunities across Japan. This position supports the growth of Blueleaf Energy’s project pipeline through land sourcing, stakeholder engagement, and market analysis. The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of Japan’s energy landscape, experience in project development, and a proactive approach to building partnerships and navigating regulatory frameworks.
How You Will Make an Impact
Opportunity Sourcing & Market Development
- Identify and assess new renewable energy project opportunities through greenfield development, partnerships, and tenders.
- Support the development of a robust pipeline aligned with Blueleaf Energy’s long-term strategy.
- Conduct pre-feasibility assessments and contribute to investment proposals.
Land Acquisition & Development Support
Collaborate with the GIS team, land brokers, local governments, and internal teams (Investment, Project Development) to secure suitable land for solar, wind, and energy storage projects.Assist in coordinating permitting processes and ensuring compliance with local regulations.Assist in creating, submitting, tracking and monitoring Grid Connection Applications.Support internal teams in project execution and milestone tracking.Tender Participation & Commercial Support
Assist in bid preparation, documentation, and internal approvals.Support commercial negotiations and development agreement execution.Internal Collaboration & Reporting
Work closely with investment, legal, engineering, and project teams to evaluate and advance opportunities.Provide regular updates on pipeline status, regulatory changes, and market trends.Contribute to business development reporting and strategic planning.What Makes You a Great Fit
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, Real Estate, or a related field.2–5 years of experience in renewable energy business development, preferably in Japan.Experience in land acquisition, and project permitting.Strong network with developers, government agencies, and contractors desirable.Proactive and self-motivated with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.Excellent communication and relationship management abilities.Fluent in Japanese and English (written and spoken).Proficient in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).Willingness to travel within Japan as needed.What We Offer
