Job description

We are seeking a strategic and dynamic Head of Human Resources to lead our HR function in Japan. This role is a critical partner to our Japan leadership team, responsible for developing and executing HR strategies that align with business goals, while ensuring compliance with local labor laws and fostering a high-performance culture. The successful candidate will bring deep HR expertise, cultural awareness, and a track record of leading HR teams in complex, fast-paced environments.

Strategic HR Leadership

  • Partner with the Japan Country Head and regional HR leadership to shape and implement HR strategies that drive business growth and operational excellence.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to senior leadership on all people-related matters.

Talent Acquisition & Management

  • Oversee recruitment activities to attract top talent across all business units in Japan.
  • Lead succession planning, talent reviews, and high-potential employee programs.
  • Employee Relations & Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with Japanese labor laws and company policies.
  • Lead initiatives to maintain a positive and legally compliant working environment.
  • Organizational Development & Change Management

  • Drive organizational effectiveness through structure reviews, capability building, and change management strategies.
  • Support cross-border HR integration and alignment with regional / global policies.
  • Compensation & Benefits

  • Oversee local compensation and benefits programs, ensuring market competitiveness and internal equity.
  • Collaborate with regional teams to align compensation strategies with global frameworks.
  • Performance Management & Culture

  • Champion a performance-driven culture and lead the annual performance management process.
  • Promote diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives within the Japan office.
  • Team Leadership

  • Manage and develop a high-performing HR team, providing mentorship and professional development opportunities.
  • Requirements

    REQUIREMENTS :

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field; Master's degree preferred.
  • 10+ years of progressive HR experience, including leadership roles in Japan.
  • Proven experience in strategic HR business partnering within multinational or fast-paced organizations.
  • Strong understanding of Japanese labor law and HR practices.
  • Bilingual : Native-level Japanese and business-level English required.
  • Exceptional interpersonal, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Agile mindset with a proactive, hands-on approach to problem-solving.
