Department Overview

Rakuten's Auto Business was established in May 2019 amidst the once-in-a-century transformation of the automotive industry, with a focus on MaaS (Mobility as a Service) and connected cars. Its mission is to realize a more enriching car life through digital innovation.

Operating under the brand name Rakuten Car, the Auto Business runs a platform that encompasses the entire lifecycle of cars, including the sale of used cars, reservation of test drives for new cars, car purchasing, inspections, tire replacements, and maintenance.

In the still relatively digitization-lagging automotive field, Rakuten Car leverages the data and membership of the Rakuten Group, as well as internal assets such as Rakuten Insurance and Rakuten Bank, and partnerships with external entities such as automakers, dealers, and vehicle maintenance facilities, to expand its services.

Position Details

In this position, you will be responsible for conducting consulting sales to maximize the number of reservations for test drives, car inspections, and other services by partnering with external partners such as dealers and vehicle maintenance facilities for Rakuten Car. Depending on your preferences and suitability, the specific department you will be assigned to, either the Car Life Business Section (maintenance area) or the Trading Business Section (new car test drive area), will be determined during the interview process.

Specific job responsibilities include

  • Sales activities to acquire new partners for Rakuten Car's inspection and new car test drive services
  • Consulting and proposing improvements for existing partner companies' EC site analysis, reservation numbers, and web promotions

    The entire business consists of approximately 70 employees. The Car Life Business Section has 25 employees, including 15 in sales, while the Trading Business Section has 26 employees, including 10 in sales. The organization is predominantly composed of young professionals in their 20s, fostering a flat and dynamic communication structure.

    New graduates with 2 to 5 years of experience and mid-career hires.

    Mandatory Qualifications :

  • At least 2 years of work experience
  • Experience in sales
  • Excellent communication skills and proactive attitude towards work
