The Accounting Assistant Manager reports to APAC Accounting Senior Manager in Shanghai as part of the Asia Pacific Region (APAC) Global Accounting Services (GAS) Shared Service Center (SSC). Also, the Assistant Manager should work closely with FP&A team in Japan to support Japan business growth requirement.
The Accounting Assistant Manager is responsible for handling in the following areas :
- Monthly / Quarterly / Annual Closing cooperating with Shanghai GAS team members in USGAAP
- Secondary ledger closing with accountant in Japan team
- Leads GAS related global project implementation and support local business process improvement in finance relative area
- Supervises Fixed Asset accounting in JGAAP basis in PCA
- Work with APAC Senior manager in SH, Finance & Business team in Japan for miscellaneous issues in local
Develop and maintain productive, effective, and professional relationships with GAS Shanghai team, and superiors, and local business partners. Represent the company in a positive and supportive manner at all times. Proactively work for the process improvement and new projects cooperating with global colleagues.

Reviews the journal entries and prepares the reclassification / correction JEs if any for monthly closingReviews the work-papers prepared by accountantReviews the supporting documentations for Inventory / Duty and Freight for direct import itemsWork with local business teams on better understanding of provisionLeads Japan Fixed Asset accounting record process and physical count processExercises judgment to determine accruals and other journal entries, such as management reservesResearches and disseminates information on inquiries related to departmental expenses.Guide / advise operation team on lease payment application in LUX (lease system)Assist in group audit like preparation PBC if needs and inventory countInvolves Japan P&L review meeting with FP&A teamSecondary Ledger Closing and Fixed Asset Accounting in JGAAP(25%)
Reviews & supervises JGAAP Fixed Assets records prepared by accountant in PCAReviews the GAAP adjustment entries prepared by accountantReconciles the financial statements between USGAAP and JGAAPUnderstand the new accounting standards for Japan GAAP and raises to line manager timelyAP, AR and Treasury related (15%)
Supports the communication with local bank and response the local bank inquiryCoordinates with treasury team to finish the insurance questionnaire and the corresponding payment.Supervises vendor invoice filing for both hard copies and soft copies.Backup for GAS AR team on credit and sales order release during CN holiday.Global project implementation and Process Improvement(15%)
Supports line manage to implement Global ProjectParticipates any project and represents as project leader from accounting team, communicates with line manager in time and can solve the project related issues proactivelyCoordinates with other departments even takes lead for some improvementsAd-hoc and others(10%)

College Degree in accounting or Finance
Japanese Bookkeeping Certificate (Nissho Boki) 2 preferred
Business level written & verbal communication skill in English and Japanese
At least 8 years related experience
Consumer goods industry experience preferred
Strong Microsoft Office Excel skill required
