Department Overview

Incentive Platform Department (INPD) provides platforms forPoint, Coupon, and Payment, empowering all Rakuten Group businesses across the board.

Payment Platform Section (PPS) is an organization within INPD, dedicating to Payment platform.We develop and operate systems to enable all Rakuten users to make various payments easily and conveniently.

In recent years, we have been expanding our services to companies outside Rakuten Group, creating new business opportunities through support for the introduction of our Payment platform. While the responsibility of supporting the core of payment services is significant, we can strongly feel that we are contributing to the entire Rakuten Group.

Position : Why WeHire

We are currently planning various projects in parallel, therefore this recruitment is for the purpose of expanding our personnel accordingly. This environment allows you to balance living in the regional city of Fukuoka with participating in the development of the payment domain on a global scale.

Position Details

You will be responsible for the development and operation of a web application referencing and manipulating payment transactions, as well as a batch processing bulk payment.The main programming languages used are Java (Spring Boot) and JavaScript (React). You will work on projects in collaboration with team leaders and members, but depending on projects, you may be responsible for the entire process from requirements definition to implementation, QA, and release.

In addition, both English and Japanese are used in daily work.While English is frequently used in meetings and on Slack, Japanese is essential for communication with clients and for documentation. Therefore,especially a high level of Japanese language skills, the ability to fully understand context, is required.

Work Environment

We, Fukuoka Development Group, are a group belonging to PPS, consisting of approximately 10 members of various ages and nationalities. Since PPS is mainly based in Tokyo, we communicate with Tokyo members while carrying out our daily tasks.

Mandatory Qualifications :

• 3+ years of hands-on experience as an application engineer
• Strong logical thinking, analytical, and problem-solving skills across various aspects including design, security, and performance
• Proactive collaboration, negotiation, and leadership skills with team members and stakeholders
• Capability to design functionalities and create proposals with an uncompromising commitment to the customer's perspective
• Excellent resilience and self-motivation in mission-critical projects and challenging situations
