Whats the role

You will join a highly experienced APAC Index Product Management team that sits within our Enterprise Data Product this role you will help shape and execute Bloombergs APAC index business strategy across a broad range of asset classes with a particular focus on the Japan market. Your responsibilities will include supporting the development construction and commercialization of index solutions refining product positioning and contributing to the overall commercial success of the business. You will work closely with Sales Research Production and Marketing teams participate in client engagements and contribute to the development of new Bloomberg Terminal analytics designed to transform the index industry.

You are someone with a strong understanding of the institutional asset management industry including evolving index trends regulatory developments and client needs. The individual will be expected to translate market intelligence into actionable product strategy support business plan execution drive product innovation and effectively communicate strategic vision across the organization.

Success in this role will require strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to collaborate across regional and global teams while building trusted relationships with clients and stakeholders. • Drive outstanding client engagement to enhance brand awareness and client adoption of Bloomberg index solutions through participation in relevant index conferences and panels
• Identify target markets assess the competitive landscape and define differentiated product proposition that will allow Bloomberg to play a major role in benchmark provision in Japan
• Help plan and coordinate events such as Index Advisory Council meetings and index conference agendas
• Contribute meaningfully to the analysis evaluation and strategic direction of index product offering within Bloomberg
• Interpret complex index methodologies and back-test index ideas
• Create and pitch product ideas aligned with market trends and evolving client needs in Japan as well as work with clients to implement custom index solutions with the goal of developing a sustainable inbound pipeline from clients for innovative solutions
• Collaborate closely with Sales Marketing and Corporate Communications teams to establish the go-to-market strategy
• Identify key strategic partnership opportunities to enable broader distribution of Bloomberg products or co-development of products to meet the needs of our clients

Youll need to have:

• 5 years of hands on product experience in the index industry or related experience
• A strong academic background in analytical/technical qualifications e.g. Finance Engineering Computer Science Math or Statistics
• Broad understanding of the index industry including key products business dynamics economic drivers and critical stakeholders across key market sub-segments
• Excellent knowledge of financial markets securities and derivatives
• Proficiency in Japanese and English
• Strong data fluency technical aptitude and the ability to work with large data sets accurately
• Strong business development and marketing skills with clear views on product positioning and product adoption strategy
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills capable of building enthusiastic support for new product ideas
• Broad understanding of regulations on financial indices and day-to-day governance determinations on index events

Wed love to see:

• Direct experience with index product management
• Experience with Python R and/or VBA to work with large data sets
• Experience working with ETFs mutual funds structured products or other indexed products
• Experience with APAC markets
