Guidewire Japan Localization Product Manager

Appealing Points:

• Shape Insurance Products for the Japanese Market: Translate complex insurance business needs into clear product requirements and manage the functional backlog based on business priorities and outcomes.
• Drive Agile Product Development: Work closely with developers, lead backlog prioritization, participate in Agile ceremonies, and ensure delivered features meet business requirements and acceptance criteria.
• Strong Product Ownership & Global Collaboration: Take ownership of product decisions while working with Japanese and global stakeholders, using insurance domain expertise and AI-assisted tools to improve requirements and delivery processes.

Annual Salary : 8 Million Yen and above

Job Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with internal teams to understand customer business needs, the underlying priorities, and how they apply to individual client companies and the Japanese market as a whole.
• Translate business needs into complete and logical product requirements for defining and maintaining a feature backlog.
• As the owner of the functional backlog, I will review, sequence, and prioritize the backlog based on results-oriented goals, and coordinate with other internal teams as needed.
• Within the agile development process, you will work closely with developers, make tactical decisions, handle exceptional cases, and support the technical team in fully understanding the intent behind the requirements.
• As the representative of the product management team, I collaborate with the technical team to ensure consistency between the product's intent and its implementation.
• Participate in agile events, including sprint planning and backlog refinement, as well as daily stand-ups and retrospectives.
• Identify and drive improvement opportunities in the team's business processes.
• Approval will be granted after confirming that the completed features meet the acceptance criteria.
• We will actively utilize the personal networks within our partner companies to resolve any questions, verify prerequisites, and gather information.

Job Qualification:

• Applicants should have practical experience in system implementation projects for the insurance industry. They should be able to explain not just theoretical knowledge, but also how business requirements translate into specific changes to the Guidewire product.
• While certification for Guidewire products is desirable, applicants with experience in Guidewire projects are welcome even if they do not currently hold certification. After joining the team, you will be expected to work towards obtaining certification as needed.
• Possesses business-level English proficiency (reading, writing, and speaking) to communicate independently with a global product team, and is able to give presentations to diverse stakeholders and exert influence.
• Possessing a high level of reading, writing, and speaking ability in Japanese.
• Possessing a strong sense of responsibility for results, the ability to drive independent decision-making, and a high level of ownership that allows one to perform tasks without requiring constant supervision.
• Proficiency in agile product development methodologies, including backlog management and sprint events

Preferred Qualifications:

• Proficient in AI-powered requirements generation tools, and able to efficiently utilize AI-generated deliverables by reviewing, modifying, and expanding them.
• Experience managing multiple insurance programs or product lines simultaneously is required.
• The company must have a proven track record of leveraging its internal human network within partner companies to identify domain experts, validate requirements, and address knowledge gaps.
• If available, it would be even better:
• Experience in product management at a Guidewire user company or implementation partner company.
• Formal training experience in presentation or facilitation.

Language Proficiency: Business level Japanese (JLPT N2) and Business-level English
