Application Development, Operation & Maintenance Engineer

Job Description

We are looking for an Application Development, Operation & Maintenance Engineer to participate in application development, operation, and maintenance projects for a leading securities company in Japan. The role covers a wide range of phases, from modernising existing systems and new development to operation support, while supporting mission-critical financial systems.

Responsibilities:

• Analysis, knowledge transfer, and first- and second-level support for application development and operation and maintenance projects.
  
• Modernization and code improvement of existing applications.
  
• Development of new functions and extensions for existing systems.
  
• Development of new applications.
  
• Fault investigation and incident response for mission-critical systems.
  
• Database design, development, and maintenance.
  
• Utilization and operational support of related tools and infrastructure such as Jenkins, Terraform, GitLab CI, and Linux scripting.
  

Requirements

The requirements we are looking for:

• Experience in Java application development.
  
• Experience in development using front-end frameworks such as React and Angular.
  
• Experience in database development using MySQL, Microsoft SQL Server (MSSQL), or Oracle.
  
• Japanese: Advanced business level, with the ability to conduct meetings independently, presentations, and negotiations with clients and internal stakeholders.
  
• English: Fluent, with the ability to communicate complex business issues accurately and smoothly both verbally and in writing.
  

Preferred Qualifications:

• Practical experience with Linux scripting.
  

• Experience in building and operating CI/CD environments using Jenkins.
  

• Experience in infrastructure automation using Terraform.
  

• Experience using DevOps-related tools such as GitLab CI.
  

• Experience in developing and operating systems in the financial or securities industry.
