About RHAELM
RHAELM is the sovereign AI cloud built to accelerate AI deployment at scale. Solving the defining constraint of power availability, RHAELM delivers gigawatt-scale AI infrastructure pipelines across Europe and APAC – providing ring-fenced compute, networking, and storage optimised for high-performance AI workloads.
Sovereignty is RHAELM's core operating model. Every deployment operates in-country with local personnel, giving enterprise and public-sector organisations operational control without compromising on cutting-edge technology. From bare metal and Kubernetes to AI as a Service, RHAELM puts power, infrastructure, and platform capability under the customer's command.
This Role
You will support the delivery of electrical infrastructure for our AI datacenter facilities in Japan — from Basis of Design (BOD) through commissioning and handover to operations. Working closely with the lead designer, our Solutions Engineering Manager, and customers, you'll localize corporate design standards to site-specific and jurisdictional requirements.
This is a hands-on, full-lifecycle role spanning design support, site presence, and commissioning — keeping design intent intact through construction and ensuring the electrical systems that get built are documented, tested, and ready to operate.
Key Responsibilities
Support the development and refinement of the Basis of Design, capturing electrical system requirements, capacity, redundancy, and customer-specific constraints
Localize corporate design documentation and standards to reflect local codes, utility requirements, site conditions, and customer specifications
Attend and support design meetings with the lead designer, tracking action items, open issues, and design decisions through to resolution
Attend site meetings to stay aligned with construction progress, field conditions, and coordination across electrical and adjacent trades
Review and comment on electrical shop drawings and submittals for conformance with design intent, standards, and specifications
Support change management processes, documenting and tracking design changes and evaluating impacts
Support customers and the Solutions Engineering Manager in facilitating and clarifying customer requirements throughout design and delivery
Attend Factory Acceptance Tests (FATs) and Site Acceptance Tests (SATs) for electrical equipment, verifying compliance and documenting results
Support testing and commissioning activities, coordinating with commissioning agents and contractors to resolve issues
Support completion of as-built drawings and O&M documentation, ensuring a smooth handover to operations
Experience
Experience in electrical design, datacenter, or critical facilities environments
Working knowledge of datacenter electrical systems — medium/low voltage distribution, UPS, switchgear, generators, and grounding
Experience reviewing shop drawings and submittals against design specifications
Familiarity with change management processes on capital construction projects
Exposure to FAT/SAT processes, testing, and commissioning of electrical equipment
Skills
Ability to read and mark up electrical single-line diagrams, panel schedules, and construction drawings
Strong communication skills, comfortable working directly with customers, designers, contractors, and operations teams
Willingness to travel to and spend time on active construction sites
Business-level fluency in Japanese and English strongly preferred, given regular engagement with local authorities, contractors, and consultants
Experience with AutoCAD/Revit and BIM-based electrical design review desirable
Exposure to AI/GPU high-density datacenter electrical infrastructure desirable
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline (or equivalent practical experience)
Professional Engineer (PE) license, or working toward one, desirable
Familiarity with commissioning standards (e.g., ASHRAE Guideline 0/1.1) and Cx documentation desirable
