The Opportunity
A leading global reinsurance organization is seeking a bilingual Financial Reporting Specialist for its Japan finance team. Reporting directly to the Japan CFO, this senior individual-contributor role leads financial, regulatory, tax and Group reporting while working closely with stakeholders in Japan, Singapore and Europe. The branch reports on both Life and non-life business. Insurance or reinsurance finance experience is preferred, and a Life background would add useful depth to the team.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead quarterly and annual IFRS Group reporting and prepare regulatory and statutory filings for the Financial Services Agency.
- Prepare financial analysis, reconciliations and supporting schedules across IFRS, JGAAP and regulatory reporting frameworks.
- Lead Japanese tax reporting and filing, including provisions, corporate tax returns, reconciliations and coordination with external advisors and tax authorities.
- Review financial results, balance sheet movements and variances against budget, forecast and prior-year results.
- Lead quarterly and annual financial close activities and ensure accurate accounting treatment under JGAAP, IFRS and Group policies.
- Respond to Group Finance, regional stakeholders, auditors, regulators and tax authorities, and coordinate the resolution of complex issues.
- Strengthen controls, documentation and audit trails, and improve reporting efficiency through automation and process improvement.
- Support finance transformation, system enhancement, capital management and regulatory projects.
