Where and how you can work

Our headquarters is in sunny Sydney, Australia, but our team spans the globe. While we support flexible, remote-friendly ways of working, for this role we’re focusing on Tokyo, Japan. So we can best support our teams and keep collaboration flowing.

This role is focused on our template Library — the design content marketplace where millions of users start their design journey — rather than Brand or external-facing creative work. 本ポジションは、何百万人ものユーザーがデザインの第一歩を踏み出す場である、テンプレートライブラリ（デザインコンテンツのマーケットプレイス）に特化した役割であり、ブランドや対外向けクリエイティブ制作は対象外です。

• Create a range of fresh, varied and beautiful designs for our Japan community. 日本のコミュニティ向けに、新鮮でバラエティ豊かな美しいデザインを幅広く制作します。

• Develop unique concepts for templates across themes and topics that resonate in Japan. 日本のユーザーの共感を呼ぶテーマやトピックに沿って、テンプレートのユニークなコンセプトを開発します。

• Collaborate with asset creators to develop supporting design elements — illustrations and design elements — that make templates shine. アセットクリエイターと連携し、テンプレートを引き立てるイラストや写真素材などのアセット開発をサポートします。

• Suggest new design styles and creative directions that fit what local users want. ローカルユーザーのニーズに合った新しいデザインスタイルやクリエイティブの方向性を提案します。

• Focus on quality management for Creator templates, partnering with the Creator Template Review Team to lift overall design quality and keep everything on-brand. クリエイターテンプレートの品質管理に注力し、クリエイターテンプレートレビューチームと連携して全体的なデザイン品質を高め、ブランドとの整合性を維持します。

• Use AI tools to create templates at scale for the Japan market, without compromising craft or cultural relevance. AIツールを活用し、クオリティや文化的な関連性を損なうことなく、日本市場向けにテンプレートを大規模に制作します。

• Write Creator briefs that give clear direction, context and inspiration, so Creators can do their best work. クリエイターが最高の成果を発揮できるよう、明確な方向性・背景情報・インスピレーションを伝えるクリエイターブリーフを作成します。

• Partner with the Design Lead to manage freelancer designers — keeping work on track, on-brief and shipping on deadline. デザインリードと連携し、フリーランスデザイナーをマネジメントします。進行管理、ブリーフとの整合性、納期内の納品を徹底します。

Qualifications

What we're looking for

• Experience as a Graphic, Brand or Visual Designer across digital and print marketing. デジタルおよび印刷媒体のマーケティング領域における、グラフィックデザイナー、ブランドデザイナー、またはビジュアルデザイナーとしての実務経験をお持ちの方。

• A genuine love for design trends and styles specific to Japan. 日本ならではのデザイントレンドやスタイルに強い関心と情熱をお持ちの方。

• A portfolio that shows your passion for clean, elegant, beautiful design. 洗練された、シンプルで美しいデザインへのこだわりが伝わるポートフォリオをお持ちの方。

• Strong craft in hand illustration, typography, colour, conceptual graphic design and layout. 手描きイラスト、タイポグラフィ、カラー、コンセプチュアルなグラフィックデザイン、レイアウトにおいて、高いデザインスキルをお持ちの方。

About the Group/Team

Our marketplace of templates provides the perfect place for our users to begin their design journey. The Canva team wants to work with talented designers from across the world, to redefine what’s possible for a template - creating a new benchmark for fresh, high-quality design content within our collection. We're aiming to build the world’s best design marketplace, with a library of designs that offer our users a wide variety of usable and dynamic content - and to do that, we need the help of talented designers that can create amazing content.

About the Role/Specialty

Canva's on a mission to democratise design, and localisation is a big part of that. It's not enough to translate content from English — we want every market to have templates that reflect their own design aesthetics and trends. Working closely with copywriters, illustrators, market growth and localisation specialists, you'll oversee the end-to-end rollout of the Japan content library.

This role goes beyond designing templates yourself. You'll also shape what our external Creators make — writing clear Creator briefs, managing quality of their template submissions, and using AI to create templates at scale for the Japan market. You'll partner with the Design Lead to help manage our freelancer designers, keeping work aligned, on-brief and on-time.
